Bachelor of Apparel Merchandising and Management

Overview

Bachelor in Apparel Merchandising & Management is a four-year program designed to provide students with a sound foundation in the managerial aspect of Apparel Merchandising. To acquire a Bachelor of Apparel Merchandising & Management degree a student has to earn 140 credits of courses designed & offered by the university. After successful completion of this program, a student will be professionally competent to choose his/her career as a Quality Assurance Manager, Sample Room Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Planning Manager, Merchandiser, Production Manager, Factory Manager, and Compliance Manager in the RMG sector at home and abroad. 
Each semester is subdivided into modules from the fields of: Majors, Interdisciplinary Minors, and General Electives. Academic Majors are the academic disciplines or program-related courses that undergraduate students formally complete. Interdisciplinary Minors provide individuated pathways that would permit students to acquire interdisciplinary skill sets and opt for a set of subjects that complement studies in one’s major or explore an unrelated area of intellectual interest. General Electives are offered to the students to help them enhance their personality and develop interests in specific areas like personality development, communication skills, critical thinking skills, professional ethics, etc. Each semester is subdivided into modules from the fields of: core courses (apparel merchandising & management) humanities, business, and other allied fields of study. The degree program is completed with an 8-week internship which the students do in a company, followed by the production of a Bachelor's Thesis (Final Year Project, FYP).

M3Become the place of excellence through the landscape of well-developed teaching-learning environment, scientific research and successful collaboration in all aspect of apparel and allied departments merchandising and management.

Under the stated vision and mission, the department intends to –

  • Offer undergraduate program in the field of knitwear and woven garments manufacturing management
  • Provide in depth knowledge about apparel merchandising, management. technology and sustainability
  • Enable students with enough skills to achieve individual and team goals in an organized way
  • Prepare graduates who will act ethically and also be socially responsibility
  • Improve the ability of students to think critically to pursue them for research and innovation
  • Make the graduate competent to communicate with others in diverse situations
  • Develop leadership quality among the students to increase the chance of employability and also become change makers in society
  • Provide students with enough knowledge for self-management and becoming lifelong learners
  • Promote University-Industry Collaboration and global and regional academic integration for research and intellectual exchange.

Admission Requirements

  • Candidates for any undergraduate program must have a minimum GPA of 2.50 (in a scale of 5.00) in both SSC and HSC/Equivalent of any background.
  • Candidates with English medium background must have completed ‘O’ Level and ‘A’ Level. Only the best five subjects in ‘O’ Level and best two subjects in ‘A’ Level will be considered. Out of these seven subjects, a candidate must have at least 4 B’s or GPA of 4.00 and 3 C’s or GPA of 3.5. (in a scale of A = 5.0, B = 4.0, C = 3.0, D = 2.0 and E = 1.0)
