Master of Public Health (MPH)

Overview

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program is designed to develop skilled, innovative, and inquisitive professionals dedicated to addressing complex public health challenges and promoting population health. This interdisciplinary program typically spans two years of full-time study combining classroom learning with practical experience and research opportunities. They are taught the preventive, curative, and promotive aspects of and become familiar with the tools available for implementation including health communications and informatics, applications of social and behavioral sciences, and health policy and bioethics.  Students will evaluate methods for addressing non-communicable diseases, communicable diseases, environmental diseases, and injury. The thesis defense caps off academic learning, demonstrating mastery of research and critical thinking. Overall, the MPH program integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing graduates for leadership roles in promoting community health, addressing global health challenges, and contributing to evidence-based health policy and practice.

  • PEO-1: demonstrate proficiency in applying principles of epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methodology to assess health needs, plan interventions, and evaluate outcomes in diverse populations.
  • PEO-2: exhibit leadership skills to manage healthcare projects, lead teams, and implement policies effectively in various public health settings, demonstrating competence in health leadership and human resource management.
  • PEO-3:  promote health equity and advocate for underserved populations by applying ethical principles, understanding global health issues, and addressing current health policy challenges from both national and global perspectives.
  • PEO-4: leverage health informatics and basic statistical analysis to interpret health data, develop evidence-based interventions, and enhance public health communication strategies.
  • PEO-5: demonstrate knowledge of environmental health and occupational toxicology principles, contributing to sustainable urban health and environmental management practices.
  • PEO-6: contribute to the prevention and control of major non-communicable diseases (NCDs), injuries, and disabilities through epidemiological surveillance, risk assessment, screening strategies, and effective disease management practices.

Admission Requirements

Duration of the program: Years: 1.5 Semesters: 3

Admission Requirements: 

  • MBBS or equivalent degree from any medical college.
  • BDS equivalent degree from any dental college.
  • Bachelor degree from any medical Institute (BSc in Nursing, Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery, and Bachelor Homeopathi Medicine.)
  • Bachelor degree in Life Sciences from any public or private institute.
  • Foreign students with equivalent qualifications are eligible.
