Syeda Bhumika Mahmud is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at International Standard University (ISU), Dhaka. She is also an active member within ISU’s academic community, serving in leadership roles such as Moderator of the English Language Club (ELC). She holds a BA (Hons.) and an MA in English from Jahangirnagar University, specializing in Literatures in English and Cultural Studies.

As a researcher, Bhumika has actively contributed to academic discourse through conference presentations and publications. Her research interests include Critical Discourse Analysis, Gender Studies, Spatiotemporal Criticism, and Cultural Studies, with a growing focus on Queer Theory and Disability Studies. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she was a Research Associate at ISU’s Center for Research, Development, and Publications (CRDP) from July 2023 till July 2024, contributing to publication management, event coordination, and research administration. Her editorial experience includes her role as a Language Editor for the ISU Journal of Business and Development Studies (JBDS), for which she received formal recognition.

Before entering academia, Bhumika worked as a Programme Associate—acting as Executive Associate to the Distinguished Fellow Professor Mustafizur Rahman—at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD). In this capacity, she managed high-level administrative coordination, international travel logistics, event organization, and stakeholder communications, including interpretation duties for UN officials during national conferences.

She has also tutored (private) O’ Level English students from renowned institutions in Bangladesh such as Sunbeams, South Breeze, and HURDCO International School, as well as schools in Malaysia including Nexus International School and the International Islamic School Malaysia (IISM). Alongside her academic and professional career, she has worked as a Creative Content Developer, Freelance Writer, and Translator. Additionally, she has received over 30 national and international awards in fine arts between 1999 and 2011.
